Hello,
My name is Jernej Letica. I am a freelance photographer and blogger from Slovenia. I got my first compact camera when I was a child, and I bought my first serious camera in 2016. It was a Canon 1300D, and I still remember going to the store, walking back home, and opening the box.
What a moment!
What do I do? Photography, of course! 🙂
I love sports photography, street photography, landscape photography, and wildlife photography. I enjoy traveling and hiking and I always have my camera with me, which is currently a Sony A7 III, and I am very happy with it.
Take a look at my latest posts on the blog.
In the about me section, you can read more about me and my beginnings.
What do I write about on my blog?
I write about all the solutions I found for my photography problems. I love sharing my experiences. I write about how to take photos, how to edit photos, and tips and tricks for better photos. You’re probably interested in what shutter speed is and how to properly use aperture.
The blog is divided into several categories, which are as follows:
Software and editing
You will learn about photo editing software and tips on how to use it. I will show you how I edit my photos, and I also have a YouTube channel @JernejLetica where I record my edits.
Videos are great for learning as they allow me to demonstrate more clearly what and how I do things.
Tips and tricks
How can you improve your photos? Regardless of whether you are a beginner or a professional photographer, you always have the opportunity to learn something new or get a fresh idea for your next photo shoot.
Photo Gallery
Take a look at the beautiful photo galleries I have shot and edited for you. Check out the gallery and presentation from my visit to the Red Bull Museum in Salzburg called Hangar-7. See what I wrote about the attractive photo spot in Zelenci, Slovenia, and download a desktop wallpaper for your computer.
Social Media
Do you know when is the best time to post on Instagram? What about this: how to create an Instagram post by using just one word? Learn all this and more in the category titled Social Media. This is a must-read category for anyone who wants to share their artwork with the world.
Wallpapers
Do you have a random wallpaper on your computer, phone, laptop, or tablet screen? Probably since you bought the device, right? Not anymore. Take a peek at the wallpapers category and download the best wallpaper you’ve ever had! Do you already have your new iPhone wallpaper?
Interviews with photographers
Last but not least, this category was the first one I started blogging with: interviews with photographers. I remember the beginnings, when I wrote to photographers on LinkedIn asking if I could interview them. I recall the joy of conducting my first interviews.
One of the earliest was with Roberto Pazzi, and it is very dear to me. Are you interested in photojournalism? Don’t miss the interview with Gašper Lešnik. Anja Papuga shared some incredibly interesting street photography with us. Tjaša Kovač, on the other hand, is an expert in fire photography and photo editing.
Here’s a bit more about me.
What are the most common questions I receive?
I am very happy about all the questions I get. I can’t wait to share my experiences with you.
Here are some of the most common questions and answers I receive from you:
What is my photographic equipment?
Many times, you ask me about my photography gear. Which camera do I use? What lenses? What about a tripod and backpack?
As I mentioned, I currently shoot with a Sony A7 III, and you can find the complete list of equipment on the page about my gear.
Do you edit photos, and what programs do you use for photo editing?
Of course! 🙂
Although it may be unusual, I enjoy editing photos more than taking them. I see photo editing as part of art. Each of us has our own shooting and editing style. I enjoy developing mine and progressing.
For editing, I use Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, and sometimes Gimp. I also record YouTube video tutorials where I use Adobe Premiere Pro. I love Adobe programs!
What photography books do you recommend for beginners?
To be honest, I haven’t read many books about photography. I read a series by Scott Kelby, and it was okay. Books from the bookstore seem too formal to me.
I much more prefer reading blogs and watching YouTube videos about photography and photo editing. I enjoy following lesser-known photographers and creators who are going through the same struggles as me.
I get much more useful information from them than from photographers who are already successful and were in my place 30 or 50 years ago and are now writers.
Otherwise, my favorite book is The E-Myth by Michael E. Gerber. I won’t tell you what it’s about. You will have to read it!
Enjoy my blog!
See you!
Jernej
