How to print a poster on multiple pages

  1. Choose one photo from your device. It opens locally in your browser.
  2. Choose paper and orientation, then set the sheets across or the target width in centimetres.
  3. Set the overlap and printer margin. Check the grid, sheet count and effective DPI.
  4. Download the PDF and print at Actual size. Trim the marked overlap edges, align the repeated strips and glue the sheets together.

What I checked with my photographs

I tested this with my Lake Jasna photo and two Metelkova photographs from Ljubljana. I use the pixel dimensions to check how much detail a large print can carry before using paper. With A4 landscape, three sheets across, a 10 mm overlap and a 5 mm printer margin, the 960 × 1200 px Lake Jasna file made an 84.1 × 105.1 cm poster on 18 sheets at 29.0 DPI. Each 1200 × 800 px Metelkova file made an 84.1 × 56.1 cm poster on nine sheets at 36.2 DPI.

The DPI value here describes the image at its final poster size; exporting a PDF does not add detail.

Choose the finished size

Sheets wide sets the number of columns. The height follows the photo’s proportions, and the last row can contain blank paper. Target width sets the image width in centimetres instead. The grid shows where the printable areas overlap; the displayed size is the image itself, excluding the outer printer margins.

Overlap, cut marks and printing

The glue margin repeats the same part of the picture on neighbouring sheets. Cut marks identify the image edges and the start of the repeated strip. Trim the right and bottom edges of the upper or left sheet at the overlap marks, then place it over its neighbour and match the picture. The row letter and column number help keep the sheets in order.

Choose the same paper and orientation in your print dialog. Select Actual size or 100% and disable Fit to page. The PDF contains the physical sheet dimensions, but the printer dialog controls whether the printer respects them. Keep a printer margin that your printer can handle.

Tips for better results

  • Use the original photo rather than a smaller copy from a message or social feed.
  • A low DPI value means the poster may look soft up close; a smaller poster keeps more detail per inch.
  • Check alignment before applying glue, and keep labels on the margins until assembly is complete.

Frequently asked questions

How can I print a large image on multiple pages free?

Choose your image, set the paper and poster width, then download the PDF. Print all pages at Actual size and assemble the overlapping sheets. Processing is free and takes place on your device.

Can I split an image into pages online without uploading it?

Yes. The browser opens your local image and builds each sheet there. The image is not sent to a server, and the downloaded PDF contains the printable regions in row order.

Why is part of the last row blank?

The photo keeps its original proportions. Its height rarely fills an exact number of sheets, so the remaining paper is blank. Trim this excess after printing; the image is neither stretched nor cropped to fill it.

Is this a rasterbator poster maker?

This tool splits a continuous photograph into sheets. It does not turn the image into a halftone dot pattern. Use the overlapping picture strips to align the pages and print the PDF without scaling.
